What is a mobile phlebotomist?

A mobile phlebotomist is a trained professional who visits your location to collect blood samples for testing. They perform venous blood draws, which are more accurate than finger pricks because they provide a larger, more consistent sample and reduce the risk of contamination or dilution. The collected samples are then sent to a laboratory for analysis.

Please note: I am not involved in processing or interpreting test results.

What can a blood test check for?

Blood tests can check for a wide range of health markers including general health (liver, kidney, cholesterol, and blood sugar), vitamin and mineral levels, hormone balance, fertility, diabetes risk, heart health, inflammation, blood cell function, immune response, allergies, intolerances, and more — offering a thorough and personalised view of your overall health.

What if I’m considering a private blood test — where can I buy one?

If you’re looking to book a private blood test, I highly recommend Medichecks. They’re a trusted provider with a wide range of tests available to order online, and the process is really straightforward—from ordering your kit to receiving your results. I’ve used them myself and was really impressed with the speed, accuracy, and the level of detail in the report.

Once you’ve ordered your kit, I can assist with the sample collection. A qualified doctor from the provider will review your results and give you a detailed insight into what they mean.

Please note that I have no involvement in the interpretation or analysis of your test results.

What areas do you cover?

I cover all of North Somerset, and I’m happy to consider locations outside the area depending on my availability and schedule.

How should I prepare for my blood test?

Follow the preparation instructions provided by your doctor or the website where you purchased your test kit. Some tests may require fasting, or need to be taken at a specific time of day or point in your menstrual cycle. If you’re unsure about any preparation, feel free to contact me for guidance.

Do you offer same day appointments?

Same-day bookings may be available depending on location and schedule. Please get in touch to check availability.

What are your appointment hours?

I offer appointments starting from 6am, perfect for those who need to schedule a test before work or other daytime commitments.

How is the blood test done?

I’ll start by placing a tourniquet (a tight band) around your upper arm to help make your veins more visible. Once I locate a suitable vein, I’ll clean the area with an antiseptic wipe. Then, using a small sterile needle, I’ll draw the required amount of blood. The entire process typically takes just a few minutes. After the collection, I’ll release the tourniquet, apply pressure to the spot to stop any bleeding, and place a small plaster over the area.

What if I’m afraid of needles?

You’re not alone—many people feel the same way. I work with patience and care to help make the experience as calm and comfortable as possible. We’ll go at your pace, and I’ll talk you through each step so there are no surprises. If you need to take a moment or ask questions, that’s absolutely okay.

Do you have insurance, relevant qualifications and a DBS check?

How much does the service cost?
